Celebrating the Evolution of the Winspear

2025 marked a pivotal year of growth for the Winspear. Throughout the year, the expansion began moving from vision to reality, with the combined efforts of teams of skilled builders on the ground, talented architects and acousticians behind the scenes, and of course our generous donors supporting every step of the process. Each milestone sets the stage for an exciting year ahead in 2026.

We were especially proud to welcome our first students into classrooms that are part of the Winspear Expansion Project. These new, purpose-built spaces are already supporting hands-on music education through Sound School, the Alberta Conservatory of Music, Science of Sound, and our YONA program, opening doors for more learners to engage deeply with music.  

Piece by piece, the 50,000 sq. ft. Winspear Expansion continues to come together. With classrooms, rehearsal studios, and an innovative performance space, the Winspear Centre is evolving into a 215,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art cultural destination dedicated to music, learning, and community in our city.

Together, these milestones move us closer to a shared vision—a music centre that is open to all, where people can explore, learn, create, and connect through music.
